The beautiful city of Zacatecas, the capital of the Mexican state of Zacatecas, is able to captivate any traveler.
Streets Sakatesa (wave-like) - there are few straight lines - with narrow stairs leading up and down. Your chosen trajectory of movement can suddenly break off in front of the facade of a church in the XVI century Baroque mansion or XVII century, the importance and greatness of which is difficult to evaluate through the prism of narrow streets. This amazing maze is full of surprises. It is easy to understand why in 1993 UNESCO declared the Historic Center of Zacatecas cultural heritage.
Striking Monumental architecture of the Cathedral of Zacatecas (Catedral de Zacatecas) is built of pink stone. This is one of the best examples of Mexican baroque architecture. All this magnificence can be seen for hours, trying to unravel the mystery, which involved hundreds of figurines of real and mythical animals, beautiful and ugly men and women, gargoyles, birds of paradise, lions, lambs, trees and fruits.
Almost opposite to the Cathedral is the Temple of Santo Domingo (Templo de Santo Domingo). It is remarkable for octagonal vestry and eight magnificent altarpieces in Baroque style, one of which is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. In Zacatecas, there are more than 15 museums that are recommended to visit.
