I was sitting at 2.2M, now I'm well over 3M after my 6 IF alderweireld investments, and I'm not going anywhere near this POTM Hazard. I only have about 300 games played and haven't spend a single penny on this game, and I have roughly 3.3M. Why? Because I spend my fifa 17 coins wisely, and without question this is not a wise use of money.
Now, there's something to be said for the uniqueness/collector factor, but that's all subjective emotion, the objective truth is that you're spending over 500k in most cases for an untradeable card that has exactly 0 fifa coins of value. You're never getting those fifa coins back.
This can't be overstated. You can, right now, go out and buy a very slightly downgraded IF hazard for 400k (likely 250-300k in a week or 2), that you can then sell and recoup at least the majority of your fifa 17 coins back. What you're doing, by completing this SBC, is paying a hefty price to exclude yourself from future Hazard upgrades, which are all but certain given his form and how early we are into the fifa cycle.
If/when he gets a SIF, TIF, MOTM, TOTS, etc, you either can't use them, or you'll have to be willing to let a 4-500k+ card collect dust in your club that you can't sell. Now, if you consider all of those factors, but your favorite color is purple or you just have to have every special card released this year, and you're willing to pay that incredibly steep price for that, then knock yourself out. But don't you dare try to rationalize it as a sound monetary investment or convince other people that it's a wise use of fifa 17 coins.
Some players said, "this is only true for those who are buying cards post SBC. I made some smart purchases prior to the release, and had a fair few IFs from FUT champs rewards. I didn't need to spend a single coin on POTM day because I had everything already.
I probably spent 150-250k tops on cards required for the challenge (such as for Courtois, IF Benteke, Nainggolan). But from all the cards I didn't need to use and sold (e.g., Kompany, some IF EPL cards I packed, etc.) I made about 200K profit (on top of breaking even in the investments). Not including the cards I packed from the challenges (though the only high value I packed was Toure and I'm keeping him).
I'm not trying to gloat. I'm just annoyed by all the people criticising those who've completed the challenge for wasting their fifa coins based on how much it costs for them to complete it now, rather than how much it actually cost the person who prepared for it intelligently."
