Hi all
I would definitely get a roaming SIM card as this will reduce your roaming charges significantly. The main network operators charge a fortune for roaming (check out their website and see what they charge from the countries you are visiting, to call back to Australia or within the same country you are visiting).
I use xxsim and their rates are so much cheaper than my normal network. Their service is prepaid so you just load some credit and use what you need to, and top up again so there is no chance of getting a huge bill when you get home either!
You can also use a roaming SIM in all the countries you are going to, instead of juggling different SIMs and having lots of different numbers, having to tell your friends, family and anyone else who might need to call you a new number in each country.
